A fiction writing app is software designed for writing novels and other long stories. Where a word processor gives you a page, a fiction writing app gives you a project: chapters and scenes, an outline, places to keep characters and world details, and export to a standard manuscript format.
What to expect from a fiction writing app
- A manuscript editor organized into chapters and scenes
- Outlining or plotting tools
- Character and world-building notes
- Autosave and backups
- Export to Word, PDF or ebook formats
- Optional extras: focus mode, prose analysis, goals and word count tracking
